Change

Heard a great line from one of our staff pastors today...Pastor Greg is a master of the profound one liner..."It is impossible to experience growth without the pain and awkwardness of change." There is such a disconnect in many peoples minds between what they want to be and what it will cost them to become it. The world is full of those who began the journey of growth only to find that it required much more than they were willing to sacrifice, and ultimately they decided to take a shortcut. You hear about shortcuts all the time in politics when a congressman tires of the slow processes of law and gets into shady business practices, or when big business fudges numbers to try and paint a pretty picture for stock holders, when athletes hit a plateau and start using performance enhancing drugs. All of these situations can only end in tragedy with lots of hurt people in their wake.
God knows we have a hard time changing and growing so he gave us something special to help us in our quest. Fellowship. When we are ready to throw in the towel it is the encouragement of our brothers and sisters that helps us stay the course.
No one has ever done anything lasting or signifigant alone...their was always a team. Michelangelo employed approx. 17 master artists to help with the Sistine Chapel, Disney hired over 1400 to creat Nemo, Paul Reveres budy finished his ride...always a team.
If you want to stay on the path less traveled, the path to growth and freedom--you won't do it alone. Find a team.
good night-
